SFTC GNU/Libtech Big Air Recap

ATP’s 8th Annual SFTC Big Air was a day to remember! Arctic temperatures weeks prior to the event, along with snow, wind, ice, and fog gave way Sunday, January 26th to beautiful bluebird skies and the nicest temperatures in weeks. Conditions couldn’t have ended up any better, and riders answered back all day long, in one of the most fun and exciting SFTC’s ever.

Registration ran throughout the morning, and over 60 riders signed up to compete in all categories. The crew made sure all jumps were dialed in and ready to open up early, giving competitors maximum time to warm up, get comfortable and land some tricks before the event. Riders in all categories were given 3 runs, with the single best run counting as their final score.

The highlight of the day, as anyone can see from the photos, was the Big Jump which was no doubt one of the largest and best ever constructed at ATP. The huge wedge takeoff was somewhat intimidating, but after a hit or two riders could see the extra height & length translated to a smooth takeoff and some lofty tricks. The deck measured in at just a shade under 50’, but the long consistent landing allowed riders to take it well over that.

Just a few highlights included:

    • Beginners not only hitting their jump with ease, but spinning and taking the smaller takeoff to darn near the flats.
    • Awesome turn out of lady shredders, who charged all day long!
    • Huge spins with grabs in intermediate divisions, both switch and regular.
    • Advanced riders stealing the show with doubles, huge spins that weren’t hucked, and more variety than ever.
    • DJ Sayswho keeping the vibe going all day long for riders
    • Slopeside Hotdogs on the grill

A huge thanks to GNU / Libtech for their support, Podium finishers in all categories were hooked up with great prizes!
