the setup was awesome, the comp was sick and everyone was throwing down but i think the tricks that are acceptable in beginner and intermediate should be changed. Everyone at app is progressing from beginner to advanced and the judging for each skill level should reflect that. There either needs to be another level between advanced and intermediate or you should be able to do harder tricks in beginner and intermediate because there is just too big of a gap in skill between intermediate and advanced.
This should happen. Reading the tricks under the categories is just funny now. Beginners can hit small boxes/rails and small tabletops, gapers from Florida come here and do that stuff their first time on skis. The intermediate stuff should be the beginner, advanced needs to be the new intermediate rules, and advanced needs some new standards. I’m not sure when the standards for the categories were formed but the sports came a long way since then.
yeah i am not a snowboarder here but i thought the podium for advanced snowboarder should have been different not just saying that because my bro didnt place if you were jumpimg to conclusion but he and or mark with the red pants should have deffinately placed in my opinion not trying to take credit from those who one just sayin
Yeah i agree with Thomas. App has evolved since those rules were set. 2 7s were thrown in intermediant ski this year. Several 3s were thrown in beginner. Is this sandbagging? No. Everyone is progressing rapidly and app needs to adapt to it. Sick comp and setup none the less.
I think the categories need to be changed some too but I think most of it comes down to the riders to step up and ride in the advanced and intermediate categories. If there is one thing that does separate some of the intermediate riders from the advanced riders is the style. I saw kids throwing tricks that looked as if they had never landed them before. Style plays a huge roll in skiing and snowboarding pay attention and step up to the next competition level.
monty i am in advanced with very little style its a mix of style and tricks but yeah just push yourself up a level
All the advanced guys are riding with style and that’s the major seperation between you guys and the intermediate kids. I’m saying that the lower level kids need to remember that tricks need style
I grew up always skiing the advanced events at app from the very first season of shred for the cup and even in the events before that. I definitely however did not always consider myself an advanced rider. I was stoked as long as I didnt get last place in the events or even if i just stuck my run and skied the best I possibly could. I wanted to challenge myself the hardest way possible. That meant skiing advanced. If you want to get better and progress faster then jump into the advanced category. Just from riding in those heats and talking with other riders you will learn way more and become much better then just scooting by in the intermediate/beginner categories. No one is going to look down on you because you entered advanced and didnt stick a single run. The fact that you are out there willing to ski better and challenge yourself is something to be looked at much higher then just skiing in intermediate because you think you can win some prizes. The category descriptions are probably a little off now as the were made maybe 4-5 years ago but that shouldn’t matter you alone know your riding level and should enter what you think will challenge your ability…
my two cents hope everyone keeps killing it back in NC
you groms inspire us all none the less
i think there should be an lower intermediate/beginner catagory…some guys are throwin stuff i cant even imagine in intermediate. so yeah im all for 2 seperate intermediate catagories.
I agree with the 2 inter categories. But i also think that what each category can do should be updated
I don’t think they need a new division. There were only 7 skiers in advanced on sunday. If you had a new division you might end up with only 4 in advanced and that would not be as fun. More people should just step up to advanced. I do advanced even though I know that my chances of getting 3rd are really slim. I end up skiing way better than I would have in another category though because I know I have to do something cool if I even want a chance.
well put tanner… Step up guys…
Tanner, You are sick though. lol. You are an advanced rider for sure.
