Summertime. You know its summer when you have to take a break from working to find a nice cliff to jump off into the snowmaking reservoir! Good times. Keep posted, and before long we will let you all know about some of the bigger projects that are in the works for 2010-11.

The NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 Race went down last weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Red Bull was on site at turn 3 with their 2 story "Energy Station" - a trackside two-story steel and glass structure for select guests of Red Bull to enjoy the race from. Complete with stainless steel bars, lounge areas with plush sofas and chairs, catered food, endless Red Bull, plasma TV's and more - Red Bull knows how to experience a NASCAR race in style.

ATP riders Kris Jones and Canyon Mueller both won invitations to the Red Bull Energy Station through their riding at last season's Red Bull Buttercup. It looked like great times were had by all, congrats guys!

What an amazing weekend! Bluebird both Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures that finally rose above freezing for the first time in a while. Felt like summertime, but with great snow conditions, and some polished park setups. Amazingly, the snow stayed very good throughout the weekend.

A great day out on the hill, even though the wind gusts kept up pretty much all day. The park crew reshaped all features in the progression park, as well as set 3 new features in Appal Jam this morning. Look for some more rebuilding for the Fresh Friday tommorow - and make plans to get out this weekend, the weather looks amazing!

The sun finally came out for a while today! Even though the wind was gusty at times, snow was prime, as were the setups in all parks. The crew dialed in some features for the rail jam coming up this Sunday, and let a few riders do some testing. Good Times. More snow to come daily.

A cold one today at ATP with temps barely rising into the double digits. Conditions were prime, with snowmaking in progress last night coupled with some natural snowfall throughout the day. Appal Jam and Candied Appal saw some super sick setup switches last night thanks to Fish and Kris. The crew spent the day taking care of the drifts forming around all takeoffs, making sure they were nice and smooth.

Is the snow ever going to end? I dont think so. More snow today, but those rider that made it out found the 16' flat box in the progression park. In AppalJam the fence jump has been redone with the ledge wedge on its side. Look for more work to be done to Jam and Candied Appal in the next few days.

Very cold and windy day, with natural snow falling all session long. The crew killed it in the morning, and setup a Trap Box in the Progression Park, the new OG rail, skinny box, and a barrel bonk in Appal Jam. Look for the rebuilding to continue all week long.

The blizzard looks to be about over with us here - not a ton of snow fell, however the wind was another story. Flurries are continuing into the day, and all parks look exactly like they did a couple of days ago, only with some fresh snow! The crew will be rebuilding tonight, switching out some rails in the Appaljack Terrain Park.

An arctic day to say the least - continuous snow showers and gusty winds left features with sizable drifts of fresh light snow around them. The park crew kept everything in working order throughout the storm, hopefully the wind will die down some for tommorow.

Not much snow to speak of, except a heavy downpour right around 4pm. Foggy, wet conditions dominated most of the day, but this cold weather has allowed for all park features to hold up exceptionally well.

Another great day in all the parks, everyone is recovering from the big weekend. The crew is preparing for the next round of snow - looks like a good amount to fall tommorow and Wednesday. Conditions will be amazing since this storm looks to be all snow - no frozen rain or sleet to speak of.

Such a nice day today - the Buttercup went off! Tons of riders showed up and killed the features in Candied Appal. Snow showers on and off throughout the day, and dropping temperatures allowed all parks to hold up very well.

Kind of a messy day - snow, sleet, rain, rain, more rain, sleet, etc... made for crazy snow conditions. The crew braved the elements and completed the Buttercup setup in Candied Appal for tommorow. Fresh Friday is still going down this evening, hope to see everyone out who can make it.

The clouds cleared out after lunch to reveal some new additions in Appal Jam. Fish built a nice new step over jump yesterday, and the crew added a hitching post and the flat down to the top of Jam this morning.

Another beautiful, sunny, calm, and wintry day - a decent sized crowd out and about in all 3 parks, which held up great during the day. The Progression Park saw tons of action, along with the Boarder X course in Jam, and the jumps & rail line in Jack. Snowmaking was in progress last night, leaving a silky smooth coat on all takeoffs and landings. Doesn't get much better than today!

An amazing day today, with temperatures starting off in the teens, but warming up quickly with the sunny skies. No wind whatsoever, which is always a nice treat. We held our boarder/skier X Open during the day, with lots of people lapping the course all day long. Definitely fun to watch.

Join us at ATP Sunday, January 31 for a completely free (with valid lift ticket), open format boarder and skier cross down Appal Jam & Candied Appal. The course was designed and constructed for a USCSA boarder-x event, but was canceled by the college's due to the fresh snow.

We will be closing Appal Jam and Candied Appal from 10am - 1pm to run groups of 4 down the course. Simply show up on the hill and divide in groups of 4 however you want to take a lap and see who's got the better line.

The setup begins on the Advanced Drop-In of Appal Jam, continues down the Appal Jam slope, and runs through the bottom of Candied Appal. Rollers, Berms, step ups, doubles, and more will make for some fun action.

Again, all you need to do is show up at the Appal Jam Advanced Drop-in to take some fun laps with friends and see who is the faster rider!

The snow held off most of the day today, and began falling around 3:30pm. The boarder cross course is taking shape in Appal Jam and Candied Appal, its nice to see something a little different in the parks for the time being. Come take some laps with your friends while its still up and running.

The calm before the storm. Today was sunny all day, with amazing riding temps - cool but not cold at all. A small bit of snowmaking the night before made conditions as good as ever. Hope everyone is getting stoked for the snow coming tommorow - be sure the crew will be on it 24/7 keeping setups mint with all the fresh.

A super nice day to be out on the Mtn. - temps stayed on the cool side, getting in the upper 20's, and some fresh snow from the night before made conditions great. The crew setup some new features and switched some around as well. Appaljack is now home to the new S-Rail, the 16' flat box found a home in the progression park, along with a 12' flat rail. The flat down flat rail is up and running for the first time this season in Appal Jam.

Snowmaking last night and some natural snowfall throughout the day made for excellent conditions all over the mountain. Mellow crowds left all 3 parks open and low-key for super quick laps. The crew replaced the rail line in Appaljack with some new options. Look for more to be changed in all parks during the week.

Nice to see the sun a bit today. The crew attacked all parks with authority today - resetting, reshaping, rebuilding what the weather has deteriorated over the weekend. Look for construction/modification to go down throughout the week as we see some snowmaking weather, and possibly some natural snow as well.

How great of a call was it to reschedule our Buttercup event to Feb 6th? Today was cloudy, foggy, rainy, windy, warm, you name it. All parks are holding up as well as possible - but will definitely benefit from some reconstruction over the next week.

A pretty dismal weekend as far as weather goes - foggy and drizzly weather dominated all day today. The crew kept up all takeoffs and landings as well as possible, there were quite a few riders out given the conditions.

Friday morning started off the same as yesterday - icy conditions and overcast skies. All parks have been preserved under a smooth coat of frozen rain, but should soften up throughout the day. The Red Bull Buttercup has been rescheduled due to the crazy weather coming up over the next few days.

Another ice storm?!? Temps stayed in the 20's today, and with some rain falling, conditions were icy to say the least. All the crew could do during the day and night was scrape ice off all the features. The slopes became so icy during the day that they were closed in the afternoon shortly to re-groom!

So the rain begins. Today was actually a decent day to be out riding, with passing showers and no wind. The crew repushed and shaped the large tabletop in Appaljack. No doubt the biggest and nicest jump of the year so far. The Red Bull Buttercup construction also began last night and this morning. Watch for the progress through the end of the week.

Another clear, warm, sunny day. The snow has gotten incredibly soft, but the crew has been staying on all the takeoffs throughout the day, keeping them in good shape. The progression park was re-pushed last night, with improved landings on the flat box and rainbow box, and some fresh new tabletops. Look for slight improvements in all parks throughout the week, along with a unique setup for the Buttercup, with tons of possibilities.

It is crazy how just a few days of warmer wetter weather makes for serious spring skiing. The snow feels like March snow right now, but is holding up great regardless. Lots of people made it out on this sunny MLK Day to shred. The crew got together this afternoon to discuss details for the Red Bull Buttercup - looks like its going to be a sick event, unlike any other Buttercups!

Sunday was pretty foggy for the most part, but luckily the bulk of the rain fell the night before. Cooler temperatures helped the snow not melt as much with all the precipitation that fell. All parks are still going strong, and mellow crowds made for some quick laps all day.

MLK saturdays are always interesting no matter how you look at it. Crowds were a bit soft this morning, which made for some great laps in all 3 parks. The line of features on Candied Appal had to be removed last night for this weekend, but look for it to pop back up next week sometime. Thanks to all the tourists who made it out to ride the brand new A-Frame Box and S-Rail for Fresh Fridays last night.

The crew killed the rebuild last night, and the Fresh Friday setup is looking mint, along with the brand new steep, consistent, $$ landings on both jumps in Appaljack. Another beautiful sunny day - temps got even warmer than yesterday, but suprisingly the snow held up very nice, hardly got wet at all. The crew is coming in for a rebuild tonight, with plans to setup the Fresh Friday Features as well as modify the landings for the jump line in Appaljack.

Nicest day of the season so far? Basically perfect snow conditions, lots of dialed features, and no cloud to be found. A few riders were out shredding, the vibe was great, very relaxed and fun. Not a cloud in the sky on this sunny Sunday at ATP. Temps still struggling to get in the double digits, but as long as you stayed moving weren't too bad. A decent sized crowd was out shredding all 3 parks day and night.

Although temps hardly got above 10 degrees today, the sun was out and winds weren't as bad as forecasted. Conditions were great all over the mountain, and we now have all 3 of our parks up and running with 18 features scattered throughout. Appaljack now features a nice medium sized two jump line, along with a 24' down rail into a 24' flat down kink rail. The crew installed the rainbow box in AppalTop last night, and there are still some mellow features holding their own in Candied Appal, making long and super fun lines down Appal Jam into Candied.

Another hectic day with lots going on. AppalTop was re-opened today, and featured a nice roller, a true tabletop, and a 12' flat box, with more to come overnight. A new down rail was placed in Appal Jam as well, and many hours were spent pushing around tons of snow in Appaljack for a new jump line.

The crew definitely wasn't lazy today. Both Appaljack and AppalTop were closed today to make some serious snow, so the Appal Jam Terrain Park was the mission this morning. The crew set up some brand new and creative features, which included a C-Rail handrail style, a medium booter, a slant box, a up box, our new elbow kink rail, the true tabletop, a flat box, a nice roller, and a flat rail. Progression Park construction will commence tonight, followed by some serious snow work in Appaljack tommorow. Good Times.

A sort of in-between day today, Appaljack had some temporary features setup that will be broken down tonight for more snowmaking. Appal Jam will continue to get some modifications tonight and will open up with several new features tommorow. Both Appaljack and Appal Jam will be closed during the day and night sessions tommorow to make snow.

The crew put in some work today removing all boxes and rails from all 3 parks to be able to make snow over the next few days. With temperatures staying cold all week, a good amount of snow should be made for features in all parks. Look for some serious changes all over during the next few days.

This weather has no end in sight! Another windy, cold, and rough day at ATP. Snow conditions are decent, with some natural snowfall occuring overnight and into the morning. All setups are holding up well considering there is no melt, and the snow on all takeoffs is very firm. Hopefully this wind will relax some soon.

Another cold and windy day - temperatures were hovering around 1 or 2 degrees this morning on the hill, with wind speeds in excess of 40 mph. A few brave souls ventured out into the tundra, to session some rails and boxes in the freezing cold.

Windy and Cold. Thats about all you can say about today - temperatures were around 7 degrees when the crew got out this morning, and the wind was blowing so hard it was moving people uphill in the AppalTop Terrain Park! Some natural snow fell last night, along with snowmaking in all parks. Most of it just blew away, but for the most part conditions are holding up well. Bundle up if you are making out to ride the next few days!

A new year - ATP is looking forward to what 2010 has in store. Cold temps look like they are going to be settling in today, with temperatures steadily dropping all day long. The crew spent some time to reset the down flat rail in Appal Jam today, and the double down rail was reset yesterday, making for a legit handrail line. Happy New Year!

New Years Eve already?! Hard to beleive 2009 is almost over already, today was a pretty nice and mellow day, some natural snowfall fell the night before, followed by a little rain, leaving a wet coat of snow on all features. All takeoffs held up remarkably well - be sure to ride tonight and watch the fireworks show at midnight!

Some of the best conditions of the year today for sure... Fresh snow coated all slopes last night thanks to low winds and crisp cool temps. Some boxes needed a bit of digging in the morning, but by 9am - everything was prime and ready to go. Lots of action in all parks today, so nice to ride without the wind blowing in your face.

The morning started off very cold and windy, temps in the teens, and gusts of up to 40 mph. The sun was out all day though, and helped thaw everyone out by mid-morning. Lots of snow was made/blown around in all the parks, with some sizable drifts for the park crew to deal with early. The holiday crowds were out as well, but lift lines never became too backed up. The crew took some of the fresh snow made on the tabletop in Appal Jam to beef up the takeoff, which became one of the most hit features of the day.

Another nice day - although a bit on the chilly side with temps barely getting above 20 degrees. All three parks stayed in good shape, the wind was a factor in both Appaljack and AppalTop. Look for more snowmaking tonight, and a good day ahead tommorow.

A crew of 12 people worked throughout the night last night to open up Orchard Run, Hard Core, Thin Slice, Candied Appal, and Appal Jam. Blue skies and nice temps dominated the day, with a decent crowd showing up by the afternoon. Snowmaking made for fresh conditions in both parks.

What crazy weather we have had to start the week - one of the biggest snowstorms of the decade followed by one of the biggest ice storms of the decade. The day was spent clearing trees and limbs off all slopes to get them in good riding condition. Appal Jam was closed during the day, and will hopefully open tommorow

Christmas Eve brought cool temperatures, and 3 parks with 18 features scattered throughout. The new AppalTop Progression Park is getting tons of great feedback from riders, and both Appaljack and Appal Jam have some solid lines available. Looks like some icing may occur for Christmas, but colder weather should be here next week to let us freshen up conditions.

ATP is now officially operating with 3 terrain parks as of today. The new AppalTop Terrain Park features great jump and box options for entry-level park riders to learn and progress on. The Appaljack Terrain Park is now housing 9 rails and boxes for some huge line possibilities. Temps are moderate, and the snow conditions are holding up very well.

Finally some sunshine here at ATP! Blue skies and fresh snow made for a super fun day of riding. The crew setup a 24' flat box in Appaljack in the morning, reset the down flat rail in Appal Jam, and worked on the new AppalTop Terrain Park throughout the day. Look for AppalTop to open up tommorow with some nice mellow progression features.

Another wintry day left the snow in great shape with no melt at all. Some solid grooming and limited snowmaking in the parks left every feature prime for the morning and all day long. The holiday crowds have begun to show up, and although we were somewhat busy in the parks today, lift lines remained minimal.

Conditions couldn't get a lot better at the mountain right now. Snowmaking is ongoing in the AppalTop terrain park, which will hopefully debut mid-week. The crew removed the Christmas Tree bonk in Appaljack to leave a super shaped true table with 3 takeoff options. Appal Jam received some new takeoffs as well, making a very nice jump line down the skiers left side.

With almost 2 feet of natural snow and heavy snowmaking in both parks overnight, today was a busy day for Park Crew. Almost every feature needed to be reset or dug out from the new snow. By the afternoon, both parks were looking good, and the Fresh Friday (or Fresh Saturday you could call it) setup was perfected by 6pm for the session. Thanks to everyone who made it out for a jolly good time!

How about this weather? An unreal snowstorm hit ATP hard today, laying down well over a foot of natural snow. The crew worked throughout the blizzard to make sure all takeoffs were smoothed out all day long. Conditions on the roads worsened by nightfall, and the call was made to close the mountain for the evening to ensure safety of all staff and guests. Fresh Friday is rescheduled for tommorow night.

Such a good day of riding out on the hill. Snow conditions stayed nice all day, and some sunshine helped brighten the atmosphere in both parks. Lots of action on the new down handrail in Appaljack, as well as the "skinny box". The crew is prepping for a substantial rebuild tonight, in preparation for our first Fresh Friday of the season.

Snowmaking started up late last night, providing some great riding conditions by 9am. Both jumps in both parks were reshaped this morning, and the crew worked hard to reset the 16' flat box, 16' rainbow box, and the 15' flat down rail in Appaljack. Prep work is also taking place on the features selected for this coming Fresh Friday - hope everyone is ready for the Christmas Celebration!

A strong wind throughout the night last night caused more snow than expected to melt. The crew spent a good amount of time reshaping and building takeoffs for all the rails and boxes in both parks. The crew plans to reshape the knuckles/landings in the Appaljack terrain park this evening, look for things to be dialed by the morning.

Sunny skies and almost springlike temps today made for a super fun atmosphere in both parks. Looks like lots of kids opted to ride ATP rather than attend classes - nice choice! Some smaller tabletops and lots of rails and boxes have our early season parks looking great.

Sort of a rainy start to the morning gave way to mostly cloudy skies throughout most of the day. Setups in both parks held up great, with a lot of action on the new tabletop in Appal Jam, the new double down rail in Jam, and all the intermediate features in Appaljack.

A great start to the weekend - snowmaking only happening on closed slopes, and great conditions made for a nice Saturday of shredding. Appal Jam construction was going on throughout the day for its opening tonight. The setup in Appaljack is perfect for Ladies Park Night this evening, hope to see a lot of you girls out there!

The cold temps have allowed some serious snow to be made in both terrain parks. The crew has been setting up and taking down entire park setups daily to have features for riders to session. Snowmaking is on full force today all over the mountain. Features are holding up well, but the snow level is building by the minute. The crew reset both the 16' flat box and 18' round rail during the day, and the plan is to remove all park features overnight to bury both Appaljack and Appal Jam with as much snow as possible. Don't worry though, features will be up throughout the night session, and will be up and running again by 9am tommorow morning.

Fortunately hardly any snow was lost with the rain storm last night, and Appaljack looked dialed as ever by 9 this morning. Some fog in the am hours broke away and left blue skies and nice temps for the afternoon. Snowmaking looks good for tonight into the next few days, hopefully allowing us to really get some base built up for features by the weekend.

The mountain looked great this morning, good snow, not many people out, and the rain held off until early afternoon. There was a bit of icing going on into the evening hours, but the crew kept all the park features out looking prime.

It is so nice to be on the snow again! Today was another great one - mellower crowds with the Appaljack Terrain Park up and running with 6 features, including a little tabletop booter. Snowmaking last night left the entire mountain with considerably more base depth than yesterday. Just one more night of snowmaking let us open 4 more slopes today.

ATP's opening day was definitely one of the most hectic and most fun first days in our 10 year history. The crew worked all hours of the night to provide everyone with 9 park features on day one. The Rome Pre-Jib was a huge success as well - the day never slowed down one bit from start to finish.

Snowmaking will continue tonight, and plans are to have the Appaljack Terrain Park open with some features by tommorow morning. The season is finally here!

And that does it for another season at ATP. Hard to believe it has come and gone so fast. What a break with the weather - the cold front ended up moving in later than expected - leaving the last day of shredding sunny, not windy, with perfect temps. All events went off today - especially the High Ollie and Pond Skim contest. Meltdown Games Day One. Again - the weather ended up being quite frustrating for all ATP staff - but we made the most of it, and the impossible rail comp ended up being quite fun, and the Big Air was good as well - except the rain picked up by then and made conditions far less than ideal.

Another rainy day - not many riders out with this weather lately. Parks are holding up as well as they can, the crew is working hard to make sure everything is still hittable. Appaljack now features the nicest, steepest landing it ever has, a true stepover style knuckle.

More rain fell most of the day, but slacked off towards the end of the day session. Only a few snowboarders showed up to ride today – pretty empty slopes. The impossible rail is beginning to come together, and Appaljack is now home to a nice long steep landing for the Big air on Saturday.

The rain begins… Steady rain kept coming at us most of the day, but very cool temps and no sun kept too much of the snow from melting. The crew began construction for both the impossible rail as well as the big air events at this years Meltdown Games.

Today started off chilly with fresh snow from snowmaking the night before. Temps moderated by the afternoon, but stayed in the 40's leaving perfect conditions for spring riding. The SFTC event went off in Appal Jam, and the Appaljack Terrain Park held up well and is sporting a new ollie on juice box option up top.

The crew arrived this morning to find the temp just cold enough to fire up all the Wizzards in both terrain parks and make a nice coat of fresh snow for today. New jumps were pushed in Appal Jam for the SFTC Slopestyle this weekend, and the Fresh Friday setup is dialed in and ready to go. Hope to see everyone out this weekend.

Bluebird day with temps reaching into the 60's felt like summertime at ATP. The crew once again did a hefty amount of shoveling and sporking to make sure all setups held strong through the melt. Quite a few riders killing both parks today - nice to see people out shredding. The crew also found a bit of time to do some grilling in Appaljack. Look for a rebuild to go down tonight, with some new features showing up by tommorow.

Finally some nice weather! Sunny skies and spring-like temps today - beautiful day to be outside, very soft snow, but most takeoffs were mint after being salted mid-morning. Hopefully some snowmaking temps by the end of the week? Guess we will have to wait and see.

Rain, Fog, Drizzle, and clouds - hopefully the last day of this kind of weather for a while. Some skillful grooming and handwork allowed all park features to be quite nice actually, and everything held up perfectly all day with little traffic through the parks. Still in this wet weather pattern - Sunday was drizzly and wet most of the day. Precip did end for a while in the afternoon making for some pretty good riding. The crew reset some rails and boxes in Appaljack, as well as reshaped the transition for the Red Bull Wallride, and shaped a new medium tabletop in Appal Jam. And the snow just keeps melting. Sunshine, wind, and high temps did some more work on our snow level, but all features in Appaljack are holding up as well as they possibly could. The crew setup a new 50' flat down flat down kink box at the bottom of Appaljack yesterday. Look for some colder temps by the weekend, allowing the snow to stay around for a while.

Spring Shredding at its finest. All park setups are melting by the day, but thanks to the crew working around the clock - are still dialed as well as they could be. ATP had a bit of time during the day today and decided to ski some bump lines out down Appal - good times. Look for a new box combo in the Appaljack Terrain Park tommorow.

Today was rediculously windy, warm, and sunny - not a good combination for keeping snow around. The crew worked all day to reset almost every single feature in the Appaljack Terrain Park, and pushed some snow to maintain the wallride and the jump line down Candied Appal in between sessions.

Parks are looking prime for the last month of the season. Hard to believe it has flown by so quick - warm temps and sunshine made for softer snow by the end of the day, but the crew stayed on it and all setups held remarkably well. Another sunny, beautiful day at ATP. Snow stayed great all day long, and temps barely made it into the 40's - perfect for shredding. A new set of 6 jump features appeared this morning on Candied Appal after a long long rebuild last night thanks to Cody Eggers. Candied currently features 2 Tabletops, 2 Step-Ups, a Double, and a Butter Box. Riders were lapping these lines all day long.

Days don't get a lot better than today - fresh natural snow, fresh manmade snow, bluebird skies, and chilly temps made it a great day to be on the hill. The SFTC Rail Jam setup was getting plenty of action, especially the new canon lift tower setup.

Amazing snow all over the mountain after a large snow-storm hit yesterday into yesterday night. Both parks are still looking great, and the weather looks nice and sunny for the rest of the week.

What a storm! Today was a crazy day weather-wise, with over 10" of snow falling in a matter of hours. The SFTC rail jam went down in the middle of the storm anyway, and although finals were not possible, the event went very well - lots of riders killing the upper setup. Great conditions and new features popping up all the time lately. The snow was still great and holding well given the warmer temeratures. Look for a rebuild tonight in preparation for the SFTC Rail Jam which will no doubt go off! The crew plans on installing some advanced-specific features this evening for the Advanced Finals Jam Session - look for some serious trick possibilities on these features.

A rebuild went down last night working towards this weekend's rail jam set-up. In Appal Jack the OG was set up as a handrail where the rainbow had been and below that the down-flat was set-up. In Appal Jam beside the stair set the burly down-flat-down rail was set-up and both jumps were reworked. The jumps received a much needed face lift by shifting them towards the woods, a steeper landing and both grew in length a bit. It was mild weather out today but everything is in prime condition.

It was a gorgeous day out with premium conditions, fresh snow and mild temperatures. The parks were quiet today accept for a few small groups making laps.

Where did this snow come from? Both parks were blanketed with a fresh coat of natural snow from last night, several takeoffs needed quite a bit of work as they had drifted quite a bit. The crew got everything smoothed out by 9am, and reset the flat box at the bottom of Candied Appal. Snow flurries and showers this morning eventually gave way to blue skies for the afternoon - definitely a choice day to be riding.

All setups were looking great by lunchtime thanks to the hard-working crew today. Today was definitely an interesting one - some rain last night coupled with freezing temps by the am made for some very firm conditions in the morning. Fortunately - some snowmaking in both parks throughout the day restored conditions in no time. The crew spent the day fine tuning the area for the Wallride to be installed this evening.

The crew arrived this morning to find everything in amazing conditions from last nights rebuild - except for the fresh coat of ice on all rails and boxes. The morning was spent cleaning everything off, and dialing in the new line freshly setup in Candied Appal, consisting of a 30' Down Flat Down Box, a 24' Trap Box, and a 20' Flat Box. A new smaller tabletop also was constructed last night in Appaljack.

Just a couple of nights making snow left both parks looking super good this morning - fresh snow on everything, while takeoffs still kept their shapes well. Sunny skies dominated all of today, making it one of the nicer days of the season no doubt. Look for some new features going back up on Candied Appal tonight.

Gotta love our snowmaking capabilities here at Appalachian Ski Mtn. Just a few hours of decent snowmaking temps allowed the night snowmaking crew to make a good amount of fresh in both parks - leaving all setups looking great for this morning. The takeoffs on the Bottom Tabletop in the Appaljack Terrain Park were reworked last night, and are looking better than ever. Watch for continued colder weather to dominate the rest of this week - conditions should be mint for a while!

A chilly start to the morning left both parks super firm, but clouds giving way to clear skies let the temps once again get well up into the 40's, which softened up the snow a lot. Again - pretty mellow crowds today, a nice scene in both parks for sure. Snowmaking will resume tonight on all slopes, and will be shut off and groomed out before the slopes open tommorow morning.

Crowds staying pretty moderate this Saturday made for some great riding, with almost no lift lines. Some salt was needed on takeoffs to keep them nice and smooth - and speed up the snow a bit. Hopefully some colder weather is on its way for next week allowing lots of fresh snow to be made.

A chilly start to the morning let the snow stay fairly firm in the parks and the setups were all dialed in from last nights rebuild. The Shark Fin Box made its first appearance of the season today in the Appaljack Terrain Park, and the Down to Flat Handrail is now back in action in the Appal Jam Park. The crew stayed busy putting the finishing touches on the new Red Bull Wallride today, getting it dialed in for the snow next week.

One of the windier days we have seen at ATP. At least the temperatures remained on the cooler side, leaving the snow still soft, but workable. A transition day weather wise - somewhat cooler temperatures and cloud cover were a welcome change from the warmer sunny temps from earlier this week. Some new features showed up in both parks from last nights rebuild - including a new pyramid at the bottom of Appal Jam with the signature culvert to bonk on top. The lift tower as well as the Rainbow Box were installed in the Appaljack park as well - lots of new options to ride for the weekend.

Yet another warm one - the snow keeps holding up as well as possible - the crew has stayed busy for sure battling the temps, and all setups are still going strong in both parks. A rebuild is scheduled for this evening, so be on the lookout for some new features popping up in both parks, and some reworked takeoffs on existing setups.

Another summer-like day, with temperatures soaring up well into the high 50's today made for some pretty soft snow. A fairly mellow park scene left everything looking good at the end of the day though. The flat-up rail in Appaljack was reset at 4, and every takeoff in both parks received some snow and shoveling in between sessions, preparing for the next few days of warmer than normal weather.

Sunday started out a bit on the cloudy side, but eventually broke through to blue skies. Unseasonably warm temperatures kept the park crew busy all day long, making sure all rails and boxes were sturdy in the snow, and that the takeoffs had plenty of fresh snow on them. Burrrrr!!! pretty much sums up the day. The sun has been shining, but you wouldn't know it with the wind chill remaining below 0 for most of the day with a high of 15 degrees. Both parks are in great shape with good snow and enough features for all levels to enjoy. By the afternoon a few brave souls ventured out to session the set ups.

It was one of the best days of the year so far. Big Air went down with around 55 competitors. All the riders pushed their category to the top of its game often opting for the larger jumps. Congratulations to all our winners and a special thanks to all our Judges, Board Paradise, Smith, Gnu/Libtech, and Red Bull for their assistance and presence. A beautiful last day of January, still chilly out though. The Crew worked throughout the day and night session to get the Big Air set up dialed. Everything including the weather looks like its going to we a great day out tomorrow. Don't forget Registration starts at 8:30 through 10:00 and hopefully be will kick off around 10:30. Snow flurries throughout the day and some gusty winds were the story for today. The crew got all features open and looking great this morning, and spent a good part of the day prepping the newly pushed takeoffs in the Appaljack Terrain Park for this weekend's Big Air event. Look for some snowmaking to go down throughout the weekend, and another takeoff to pop up overnight. We also found a bit of time to finish modifying one of our box tops to use as a nice low progression feature.

Sunny skies and fresh snow made for a great day of riding, All setups in both parks are holding up very well with the consistent cold temperatures; combine that with the mountain's snowmaking capability and the conditions can't get much better. The day started off foggy but after lunch the fog moved out and the rain moved in. Through the fog a new set up appeared from last night's rebuild. Handrails appeared at the top with the 33', the OG, and the down flat rail on the top of Appal Jam. On Candied Appal there is now a line of Small True Table, long Juice Box Combo into the Lift Tower.

Some unscheduled maintenance on the #1 lift today closed down the Appaljack Terrain Park, but the Appal Jam Park and Candied Appal provided lots of options for riders all day. Features from the Boardercross yesterday are still up and running, along with the Channel Gap, stairset, handrail, and true table. Look for the lift to be up and running asap - as well as lots more featuers popping up in the parks throughout the week.

Temperatures rising upwards of 50 degrees today, after the super cold early this week, it felt like a warm summer day on the hill. Lots of new features popping up daily, including the newly modified Trap Rail and a Flat Down Picnic Table combo. Not to mention the newly constructed feature for Fresh Fridays this evening - the regions first channel gap, which the crew spent a good part of the day perfecting for the session.

A busy, busy, MLK weekend is officially underway, with some of the best conditions we have had so far this season. An unbelievable amount of snow was made last night with temps in the single digits, and little wind to speak of. Definitely getting pretty cold outside - the temp on the hill was around 11 degrees early this morning, letting the guns lay down tons of snow. It was nice that no landings became bombed out, and no ruts formed on any takeoff, but the hard snow made falling a less than ideal option. A big transition day weather-wise at ATP. Temperatures starting off pretty warm this morning slowly dropped throughout the day. Some rain showers turned into a pretty good snow shower by mid-afternoon, definitely a nice sight to see. New takeoffs were pushed overnight last night on almost every feature in the parks, and all setups are looking in great condition. The crew spent today maintaining everything in the soft snow, as well as prepping the ATP Logo Box for its on-snow debut this Friday, January 9th.

Plenty of rain throughout the day made for some hard to maintain setups in the parks, but the crew stayed at it all day keeping everything as good as it possibly can be. The shorter 12' flat rail and polejam were taken off the hill this morning, along with the flat down flat rail on Candied Appal. Look for some construction this evening with an overnight rebuild, and hopefully some snowmaking by tommorow afternoon.

Mild temps were the story today, but snowpack holding up suprisingly well. All features included in the first Shred for the Cup Slopestyle are still up and running, and seeing tons of action. Look for some rain to come through tommorow, followed by colder temperatures and snowmaking by the end of the week.

Shred for the Cup Slopestyle went off! A bit of rain in the morning didn't stop over 80 competitors from destroying the slopestyle course all day long. A solid Saturday at the mountain, with a good sized crowd of people. Riders seem to be stoked on the Candied Appal features back up and running, these were definitely the most hit features of the day. Lots of people out looking to dial in their slopestyle runs for tommorow - hope to see everyone make it for the first Shred for the Cup of the season.

Some natural snow greeted the parks this morning, making all park setups silky smooth for today. Candied Appal now has a good line of features down the right side - including our Trap Box, Rainbow Box, Flat Box, and Flat Down Flat Rail.

Happy New Year from ATP! Cold weather rang in the new year here, with lots of snowmaking going down in both parks. A beautiful sunny day was a great way to start 2009 - great snow and great setups. Look for the crew to come in for an overnight rebuild tonight, beginning preparation for the Shred for the Cup Slopestyle coming up this Sunday, January 4th.

To sum up today in one word: Wind. Gusts upwards of 60 mph made this morning pretty brutal. Colder temps crept in and by midday, the guns were on all over the mountain getting some fresh layed down. A new 35 ft. flat rail setup handrail style was setup last night, and the lift tower also got reset on a fresh layer of snow.

Another Bluebird day in the parks, with temps starting out chilly, but warming up to the mid 50's by the afternoon! Snow was getting pretty soft by the end of the day, but held up great thanks to some late night cat work the night before.

A sunny day with warm temps in the parks today, with a good sized crowd sessioning both parks, especially Appal Jam. The sun really did some work on the snow, making it super soft, but the crew worked hard all day to ensure the takeoffs were as good as they possibly could be.

A pretty foggy morning on the hill. Warmer temperatures made for some pretty soft conditions, but limited traffic and a dedicated crew kept the setups looking good all day and night. Look for plenty of construction to be happening this coming week in preparation for our first Shred for the Cup event of the 08-09 season!

Clearing skies made for fairly nice weather to shred in today. A new box line highlights the Appal Jam Terrain Park, with some basic features for all abilities. Crowds stayed well under control pretty much all day, with lift lines keeping under just a minute or two.

The crew spent a good part of today dialing in our brand new jump line down the Appaljack Terrain Park. Both medium size, with long smooth takeoffs - giving tons of possibilities for linking tricks up back to back. Look for a rebuild to go down tonight, with a few new boxes and rails getting shuffled around here and there.

A very nice Christmas Eve in the parks, but some foggy and drizzly conditions made for less than ideal weather to shred in. The cat drivers definitely did work last night - pushing tons of snow into some great looking piles, the parks are shaping up to be the best they have ever been. The stairset is back and running, and the crew came in early this morning to set up some nice gentle features at the top of Appaljack for people to enjoy today.

Not nearly as cold as yesterday, but the temps stayed cold enough to make snow throughout the entire day and night sessions. It is really amazing to see what our snowmaking system is capable of, we will have pumped approximately 10 million gallons of water on the hill over the course of this cold snap. Look for our ATP cat drivers Grayson Gordon and Cody Eggers to pull an all-nighter this evening, working with the MASSIVE amounts of snow in both parks, getting them on their way to perfection.

Today was COLD! The temperature this morning on the hill was 0.8 degrees, with wind chills of -32. Combine this with 4000 gallons of water being converted into snow every minute, and you have some serious conditions to work in. It didn't stop us from constantly digging snow out from all the features all day, so people could enjoy them. We plan on pulling features over the next couple of days to allow for tons of snowmaking.

Not too much rain fell overnight, and all features kept very well. The snow started to setup during the day as temperatures dropped quicker than expected. The guns fired up during mid-morning, and we are looking forward to making some serious snow in the next couple of days.

A warm Saturday greeted the staff in the early hours of the morning, complete with considerable melt. All setups remained intact and the crew spent all day shoveling snow on the sides of every rail and box - preparing for the rain tonight.

Today was another labor-intensive day for the crew, as we constantly struggled with the melting snow. There are still currently 18 features out in both parks to session. Fresh Friday 2 - Ryan's Shred for Sarcoma was definitely an event to remember, the weather held up nicely, we had a record number of people come out and sign up to session, and saw tons of insane progression. Look for a full recap with photos, video and results soon.

A good crowd out shredding today - even warmer temperatures than earlier this week made for some pretty soft and difficult to maintain snow. The crew made sure all the features stayed in good shape, as well as began construction on the 2nd Fresh Friday setup. Look for the construction to continue overnight, and be ready to go for tommorow evening. A new Super Polecat tower gun was also installed this morning on Orchard Run, check out a couple photos of this unique project.

All features are looking prime this morning, especially considering the weather. The warm temps forced the crew to eliminate the medium table/hip at the bottom of Appal Jam, but with snowmaking temps forecasted for late this weekend, something new will be up and running in that location in no time. The lift tower was moved to the Appal Jam Terrain Park last night, and all landings were worked on and in great shape today. Look for lots more construction going down as we approach the weekend.

Another damp, foggy day in the parks. The crew stayed busy all day, reshaping almost every takeoff, as well as installing a C-Box in the Appaljack Terrain Park. We plan on doing some construction late tonight, so look for a few changes tommorow, and lots more to come day by day.

A steady rain most all day today made for less than ideal conditions, but luckily we had the opportunity to make some snow last week that will hold us through this period of snow melt. The crew spent a good part of today getting a plan of attack for the week, including Fresh Friday construction schedule, as well as needed updates to both parks by the end of this week.

Some cloud cover kept temperatures cool throughout the day, and a nice fresh coat of snow from the night before made conditions great. The crowds were mellower than Saturday, with basically no lift lines, and a chill park scene. Thanks to all the girls who came out to session for Ladies Park Night last night. Today felt more like Mid-December, with cold air dominating, and the snow guns going full-force getting the entire mountain covered in some fresh snow by midday. The crew fine-tuned both parks during the day, and opened the new butter box option in the Appaljack Terrain Park. Hope to see some girls out shredding for Ladies Park Night tommorow evening!

More rain was the story today, lasting through the majority of our day session. The crew worked tirelessly in the rain all day keeping all features rideable - and the plan is to work overnight setting up several new options in Candied Appal. Cold weather looks like its on its way for this evening, allowing conditions to get back to normal for the weekend.

Rain dominated throughout the day, with some clearing off by the afternoon and into the night session. The crew worked hard in the wet weather to keep all the setups looking as good as possible. A small new tabletop was pushed last night in Appaljack, and the 16' juice box was put up in place of the picnic table. The largest jump of the season has made an appearance in the Appal Jam terrain park, where the true table used to be. The crew also set the flat down rail in Appal Jam in between sessions.

A bit of rain and a lot of fog made today a little on the rough side, but cooler temps helped the snowpack stay pretty consistent all day. The crew pulled the down box out from the Appal Jam line, and reset it on Candied Appal. Looks like more rain to come, but some snowmaking by later in the week.

A good day to be riding ATP this Monday, lots of fresh snow all over the mountain made for amazing conditions. The crew spent a good part of the morning digging out features that had been buried by all the new snow. The down box below the Trap Box was pulled at 4 to be reset on Candied Appal later in the week. Look for lots of changes in both parks going on as we gear up for the weekend.

Another busy day both for the mountain and park, people loving those $5 lift tickets. Cold and windy would be an understatement of this morning's conditions, with gusts upwards of 50 mph early in the am. Towards the afternoon and evening the winds tapered off, and conditions held up well. The Fresh Friday setup is still getting worked, and is now a bit mellower since some snowmaking.

Yesterday's freezing rain turned to some snow last night, and we woke up this morning to a decent amount of fresh covering all of our features. Flurries and snow showers continued throughout the day, and made for great conditions in both parks. Landings became a bit choppy towards the end of the day with all the new snow being moved around, but the crew was on it between sessions, and had everything prime again for the evening.

Or second Saturday of the 08-09 season went off, with tons of riders coming out to session both parks. Precipitation held off most of the day session, and cooler temperatures kept the snowpack consistent. Temperatures staying above freezing all day made for some softer snow towards the afternoon, but the crew made sure all the takeoffs stayed nice and smooth throughout the day. Since we have been having exceptional weather during the early season, Appalachian Ski Mtn. has decided to open up early for night skiing this evening, and this will be the first time in our history that we are night skiing in November. Lots of construction happening daily as we get the park in shape for the Thanksgiving weekend. Great to see a bunch of riders out today, everyone seemed to be enjoying the great snow and all the features in both parks. Some cold and windy conditions greeted us in the parks this morning, but conditions held up well, especially after a fresh coat of snow throughout the day. The park crew braved the weather and stayed busy all day moving features around in both parks, with lots of new setups and line possibilities. Today was nice and relaxed in both parks, with our opening setup staying in great shape throughout the day. The warmer temperatures and humidity made the snow shape out very nice on all the takeoffs. The crew spent a good part of the afternoon getting a plan of attack for some sick updates in both parks, as well as other areas of the mountain. Look for new setups in both parks by the weekend with more flow, more variety, and some nice mellow features on flat terrain to learn and progress on.

Its fair to say that this was the nicest first day in our history here at ATP. With over 90 hours of snowmaking time before this Friday, the entire mountain was buried in snow, not to mention all the natural snow during the day. It would be hard to ask for better weather for Mid-November, as temps are scheduled to drop into the teens over the next couple of days. This Saturday provided ample sunshine, and warmer temperatures for all riders. The A-Frame rail was reset in the afternoon and is now back to a Flat Down Kink. The 16' Juice Box was also setup on Candied Appal, right next to the Double-Line, which has been too much fun!

Definitely a great spring day for riding, the snow at 9:00 is firm and fast, but rising temps throughout the day will lead to softer snow. The setup for Fresh Fridays is coming together nicely, and should provide a super fun session!

Today was a nice day to be out riding, although it was a bit breezy, especially in the morning hours. The crew has been working hard lately, with all the rain and warm temperatures we have had recently, lots of rails and boxes did not survive the weather, and needed to be pulled off the hill to make way for some snow work. We did set up the rainbow box and 33 ft handrail in Appal Jam, and the tabletops over there are getting hit non-stop these days; they are on point. Candied Appal has been cleaned off and construction has begun for Fresh Fridays tommorow.

Fairly nice day today, some overhead clouds making an appearance, but the rain holding off until the evening hours. All park features are holding up as well as possible, thanks to the hard working crew keeping them shaped up and built right. The 19' OG Rail and 24' Down Flat Down Rail were taken down from Candied Appal in between sessions to make way for some Fresh Friday construction, coming soon.

Park Summary:

Sunshine, soft snow, and over 20 park features to session makes for great late season riding. The crew pulled the Rainbow Box this morning, and the C-Box and Boxtops from Appal Jam and Candied Appal in between sessions, beginning to gear up for some rebuilding this week in preparation for our final Fresh Fridays event, which is scheduled for this coming Friday, March 21. All other park features are holding up remarkably well.

ATP's final event of its 07-08 SFTC Series went off today under partly cloudy skies. Around 50 riders came out to shred the course, which consisted of over 15 features through the Appal Jam Park into Candied Appal. Looks like some typical spring weather can be expected for the next couple of days, perhaps with some snowmaking weather returning for next week.

The parks are taking shape nicely for some late season shredding. Another beautiful day was on hand, and the parks held up remarkably well given the temperatures. The snow remained firm for the first half of the day, and the crew kept all takeoffs dialed all day long. It was a relatively damp day in the parks today, with showers lasting through most of the morning hours into the afternoon. As of 3:00, the majority of the rain looks like it has passed, and temperatures stayed fairly low, meaning not much melt. Today was worlds better than yesterday weather wise, although it remained fairly cloudy and chilly throughout the day. We were able to make snow in both the parks, so snow conditions ended up being very good, and all park features are still standing after yesterday. ATP had a few guest riders in town today and yesterday, if you were around, you might have seen them shredding off in the woods, grass skiing, building secret booters on Hard Core, you name it...

Park Summary:

Wow. Today was one of the wildest days anyone can remember on the hill. Temperatures stayed in the 50's for most of the day, Wind gusts reached the 50's as well, and it rained harder than it has in years. The melt was pretty incredible, but thanks to some sopping wet, hard working ATP crew members, most every feature survived the storm. Highlights from the day included: resetting the Shark Fin Box twice, watching the Stairset snow melt in front of our eyes, and skiing through a few rivers which appeared on select inruns. No photos today, just too nasty to take the camera out.

Park Summary:

Great start to the day this morning, we found a coat of freshly made snow over all of our features, which groomed out amazing and should be prime throughout the day into the evening session. The hip at the bottom of Appal Jam was reworked with the Cat this morning, and will be receiving some final touch ups during the day. Everything else was left in mint condition overnight, and all takeoffs and landings are dialed right now.

Another cold day in store at ATP. The sun popped in and out throughout the day, coupled with some stray snow showers as well. The crew did some more shovel work on almost every single feature in all parks, as our snowmaking system simply puts A TON snow out when it can. Lots of riders in both parks today, with many people getting out from school. Fortunately, the wind died down by the afternoon, making for a pleasant evening, especially night skiing.

Cold, Windy, Snowy, and Wintry...That pretty much sums today up. Temperatures stayed in the teens throughout the day, allowing for some great snowmaking. The crew spent a good amount of time digging rails and boxes out of the snow, keeping them from getting completely buried! Both parks and Candied Appal are still in great shape, and now have some nice fresh snow over them.

Nice day to ride, the sun finally showed up for once in a while, which was pleasant, and temps moderating quite a bit, getting into the 50’s made for a good atmosphere. What a day! The morning started off with the crew setting up the new 26’ scrap flat rail in the Appaljack Terrain Park. Both parks looking good today, with Appaljack sporting a brand new feature for the Fresh Fridays this evening, courtesty of the crew members who came in after hours last night. The lift tower jib was moved from the quarterpipe at the bottom of Appaljack, and set up at the top of the slope, letting riders hit it as a flat rail. The bottom knuckle is now home to a 40' U box combo, that is hittable from both sides. Should be a great setup to watch riders on this evening, we will see everyone out at the session!

Lots going on in both parks today. Changed the progression features at the top of Appaljack out with a C-Box, and also put up the 33' handrail. Grayson came in late last night and reworked the large table (now with 2 takeoffs) in Appal Jam, which will be in mint condition for the SFTC Slopestyle this Sunday.

It was a very cold day in the park, which meant all the features held up well with the firm snow. A lot of new faces were in the park today, and some locals made it out as well to session both parks. Freshly made snow in both parks again this morning, and the crew went at it hard to get some new features up on Appal Jam. We were also able to set up the 12 ft. box top and 12 ft. flat rail on Candied Appal, perfect for starting out or learning new tricks. New rail line down Appal Jam consisting of Down-Flat-Down box into flat rail into Trap Rail, which is making its appearance for the first time of the 07-08 season. The crew pulled an all-nighter last night to set up some friendly jibs and jumps on Candied Appal. This slope now features a nice mellow line consisting of: small table, trap box, and rainbow box. The small true-table style jump is perfect for people just getting comfortable leaving the snow, or learning some new tricks.

The stairset is back in action for the 07-08 ski season. Since raising the level of the entire set this summer, it now has a much smoother inrun, as well as a steeper, longer landing, making this thing more trickable than ever!

The crew spent all day and night getting a nice park setup on Appaljack, and now we plan to focus efforts towards the Big Air setup, which is coming up this Saturday. Hope to see everyone out to hit what is sure to be the nicest jumps of the season so far! What a beautiful Day! The crew was greeted this morning with a rediculous amount of snow in both parks just waiting to be pushed around into some sweet features. Look for the ATP crew to be working around the clock the next few days to get both the parks into prime shape.

The temperatures today have been so great for making snow in both parks. We arrived at work this morning to find that our boxes and rails (some of which are 5 feet tall) were completely buried from last night's snow that was made! Temperatures look like they will stay in the single digits throughout today and tonight, and we plan on taking full advantage. Here are some pics showing the blizzard that was going on today!

Welcome to the first TPS Report of the 07-08 Season. The weather today was incredible, highs in the 30's and plenty of sunshine, coupled with a few feet of some freshly made snow made for great conditions. A few nice, fun flat boxes, plus a mellow tabletop the crew constructed this AM were some of the features up in the Appaljack Terrain Park today.
